THE NDIS – WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED
Physiotherapy and exercise physiology services are available under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). If your plan is agency, or NDIS managed, you must receive your physiotherapy services through a registered provider. If your NDIS plan is self-managed or plan-managed you can choose any qualified physiotherapist you wish to provide your services including Move Better for Life.
Our physiotherapists are able to assess and provide ongoing treatment for people with joint and muscle pain stiffness; muscle and joint injuries; falls and balance problems, generalised muscle weakness and reconditioning following an illness; post-operative recovery; chest and lung problems; and walking and mobility difficulties.
Exercise physiologists assist people through exercise to improve their physical wellbeing, as well as assist with the management of medical conditions such as obesity, arthritis, diabetes, cancer. They can also help in the management and treatment of acute and chronic back pain through strength, mobility and stability-based exercise.
We can assist our clients at our clinic, in the comfort of their own home or residential facility, partnering with you to provide individualised therapy programs to help you minimise your risk such as falls prevention, improve balance, manage or reduce your chronic pain, build your strength and maintain or improve your mobility.
We partner with you through the treatment process and focus on developing self-management techniques that reflect your lifestyle, so you can move better for life.
DID YOU KNOW?
Regular exercise is estimated to reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, dementia, depression, and heart disease and other common serious conditions by at least 30%.
Yet population surveys in western countries such as the USA, Australia, and Canada, indicate that ~50% or less of the adult population (18 years and over) achieve 150 minutes of aerobic exercise a week: this percentage is even less with increased age and especially for women.
Does exercise boost your immune system? Or conversely, does an intense exercise session decrease your immunity?
What does the research say? We asked Dr Sandra Hunter, the Director of the Neuromuscular Physiology of Human Movement Laboratory, a Director of the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center, Chair of the Covid-19 Research Initiative steering committee and co-founder of MyAge.Fit to answer just this question. You can read the full blog by Dr Hunter here.
My AgeFit provides age-appropriate advice based on clinical evidence and significant research tailored to suit your lifestyle. If this is you or somone you love you might like to check out these blogs:
