How do I know I need Physiotherapy?

You should see a physiotherapist when you have pain, stiffness, or restricted movement or function, which is stopping you from doing the things you want or need to in your day to day life whether at work or at home.

If you are unsure whether your condition is suitable for physiotherapy treatment, we are available to discuss this with you over the phone.

Do I need a referral to make a physiotherapy appointment?

You do not require a doctor’s referral to see us at Move Better for Life unless you are under Workcover, DVA or Third Party claim.
If you have been referred by a doctor to see us, please let us know so we can let your doctor know how you are progressing with your treatment. We will work with your doctor to provide you with optimum care.

How long does a consultation last?

Private physiotherapy consultations are held at the practice rooms.

  • Initial Assessment and treatment 45 minutes
  • Follow up treatments 30 minutes

If you have more than one area that requires treatment please let our reception staff know so we can make arrangements for a longer session.

Do I need to bring anything or wear anything in particular?

Please bring any x-ray or ultrasound scans that are relevant to your injury with you, and a doctor’s referral if you have one.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows your physiotherapist access to the problem area so we can make an accurate assessment.

How much does a consultation cost?

Our consultations vary in price depending on the length and type of consultation. You can claim directly from your health fund and just pay the gap. Please ring for precise details of our costs which vary with the experience of the treating physiotherapist. Our reception staff are happy to speak to you and answer your questions.

Can I claim on my health fund?

All sessions are claimable if you have private health insurance EXTRAS. Health fund claims are processed on the day of visit via the HICAPS system.

Workcover, Third Party and Veterans Affairs (DVA) patients are welcome and we will directly claim the cost of the consultation to the relevant insurance company.

What are your opening hours?

Move Better for Life is open 6 days a week. Our opening hours are:
Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm
Saturday by appointment

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

We require 24 hours’ notice of change of appointment or cancellation. We often have people waiting for appointments and so to avoid disappointment for others please ring as soon as you know you need to reschedule.

Do I have to be an existing patient at Move Better for Life to attend a Pilates class?

You do not have to be an existing client to attend our Clinical Pilates Classes. However so we can determine the suitability of the class for your individual needs, please book an appointment to have a musculoskeletal assessment by one of our physiotherapists. This is an important feature of this service and allows us to provide the best care for you in our classes.
